In my previous post, I covered the details of my visit to Type Space, the new shop here in Portland that is opening tomorrow, July 1. Here are a few of the images that I captured when there yesterday. While these images aren’t of the best quality, the goal here is simply to show the large variety of offerings that Type Space has available and the manner in which they’ve put everything together.
Very nice variety of typewriters.
Yes, it’s a pretty impressive assortment alright.
Nice, beautiful display.or all things typewriter
Yes, Tony has done a really nice job setting up his shop.
Mmmmm, looks yummy 😀
Indeed!
Oh, how charming! Very nice looking shop!
As with so many things, these images do a fair job of representing the space, but of course it’s nicer to experience in person.
Oh, my! I could spend loads of time there. It looks like a comfortable atmosphere, begging for you to pull up a chair and just hang out. I love that it doesn’t really look like a store.
Type Space definitely has the potential to become a great gathering spot for typewriter fans in this area. (Of course it also makes for a great place to visit for any typewriter fans passing through town).
Excellent, heartwarming to see that someone opens a shop only for typewriters and even offer repair services. This proves that the typewriter still has a future with people that love this unique machine that practically used to rule the world. I have 7 typewriters myself and occasionally type up a short letter to send by “Snail-Mail” to my friends or family.
I’m guessing that most typewriter fans are excited to see a new typewriter shop opening up just as you and I are. Hopefully this will soon also extend to those who haven’t yet found themselves taking an interest in these machines. I’m glad to know that your 7 typewriters are being put to use and that your friends and family are benefiting as a result.
