About

The Typewritemosphere is a blog brought to you by Bill Guthrie, a typewriter enthusiast from Portland, Oregon. Bill has a diverse set of interests ranging from riding, driving, and working on motorcycles and sports cars alike, to fly-fishing for steelhead in the rivers of the Pacific Northwest. While the technological advancements brought on by the 21st century have been responsible for much of Bill’s career (his job titles have included those of a telecom engineer, a marketing communications professional, a graphic designer, and a webmaster along with a few others), he has always striven for some sort balance in his life.

As a result of seeking such a balance, Bill has been involved in a number of analog experiences for decades now. Those experiences include film photography, vinyl record playback, and playing guitar among other things. In 2020 Bill added typewriting to that list. As a result, his appreciation for typewriters led to the creation of this blog as a way to enter the online dialog regarding these machines and what they bring to the lives of those who use them.
